In July 2025, the International Association of Intelligent Engineering and Technology (AIET) officially announced the results of the first batch of 2025 Outstanding Research Outcome Recognition. After strict application, review, and public announcement procedures, a total of 28 research outcomes passed recognition and received AIET Outstanding Research Outcome Recognition certificates. The successful completion of this recognition work fully reflects the continuous efforts and important role of the Association in promoting academic research and outcome transformation in intelligent engineering and technology.
The first batch of outstanding research outcome recognition for this year was officially launched at the beginning of 2025 and was openly solicited from researchers among global AIET members and partner institutions. By the application deadline, the Association Secretariat had received 89 applications for research outcome recognition from 12 countries and regions, covering multiple frontier research directions such as intelligent manufacturing technology, industrial IoT systems, artificial intelligence engineering applications, smart city infrastructure, green intelligent construction, and engineering data science. Both the number of applications and the scope of coverage increased significantly compared with the previous year.
The review work was carried out strictly in accordance with the procedures and standards stipulated in the AIET Measures for the Administration of Research Outcome Recognition and adopted a peer expert evaluation system. The Association Academic Committee selected 36 independent review experts with rich research experience and academic review qualifications from the global expert database to form the review expert group for this batch. The review process was divided into three stages: formal examination, expert correspondence review, and final meeting review, focusing on four core dimensions of research outcomes: innovation, scientific rigor, practicality, and industry impact. Each application was reviewed back-to-back by at least three independent experts to ensure the objectivity and fairness of the review results.
Among the 28 research outcomes ultimately recognized, 10 were in intelligent manufacturing technology, involving frontier topics such as digital twin-driven production optimization, flexible manufacturing system design, and intelligent quality control; eight were in industrial IoT, including research on edge intelligent computing architecture, industrial data security protection systems, and large-scale sensor network optimization; six were in artificial intelligence engineering applications, focusing on AI-assisted engineering design, intelligent operation and maintenance decision-making, and the application of natural language processing in engineering document management; the remaining four were distributed across interdisciplinary fields such as smart cities and green engineering.
In the review report, the expert group noted that the overall quality of the recognized outcomes in this batch was excellent. Several research results had been published in internationally authoritative journals or obtained invention patent authorization, and some had been applied and verified in actual engineering projects, demonstrating high academic value and industrial promotion prospects. The Director of the AIET Academic Committee stated: "Outstanding Research Outcome Recognition is an important component of the Association academic service system. It aims to provide professional recognition and a display platform for high-level research outcomes of members through an authoritative peer review mechanism. Recognized research outcomes will be included in the AIET academic achievement database and promoted through official Association channels, helping researchers enhance their academic influence and industry visibility." The Association also announced that the application work for the second batch of 2025 research outcome recognition will begin in the fourth quarter.
