In October 2025, the Association of Intelligent Engineering and Technology (AIET) and the Faculty of Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) formally signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Singapore, marking the official launch of in-depth cooperation between the two parties in intelligent engineering talent cultivation, joint research, academic certification, and other areas. The signing ceremony was held at the NUS Faculty of Engineering, with the President of AIET and the Dean of the NUS Faculty of Engineering signing the document on behalf of their respective organizations.

According to the memorandum, the two parties will carry out in-depth cooperation in the following core areas. First, joint research projects: the first batch of three cooperative research topics is planned, focusing respectively on intelligent manufacturing system optimization, the application of artificial intelligence in infrastructure health monitoring, and green engineering and sustainable development technologies. Each topic is planned for a two-year period, with each side sending three to five researchers to form a joint team, and research funding to be jointly raised by both parties. Second, talent certification cooperation: AIET and the NUS Faculty of Engineering will jointly develop a professional competency certification system for intelligent engineering. The certification will comprehensively consider academic research achievements and engineering practice capability, and certified professionals will receive dual endorsement from AIET and the NUS Faculty of Engineering.

In addition, the two parties will cooperate in the following areas: regularly holding joint academic seminars and industry forums, organizing at least two high-level academic exchange activities for the Asia-Pacific region each year; establishing a graduate student mutual visit and exchange mechanism to support outstanding graduate students from both sides in conducting short-term academic visits at the partner institution; and jointly compiling industry research reports and technical standard recommendation documents in intelligent engineering.

This cooperation is of great significance for deepening academic ties between Hong Kong and Singapore. As an international academic organization registered in Hong Kong, AIET has accumulated rich industry resources and expert networks in intelligent engineering in the Asia-Pacific region. As a top Asian research university, the National University of Singapore has world-class research capacity and educational resources in engineering technology. The combination of the two will create complementary advantages and strongly promote the development and internationalization of intelligent engineering disciplines in the Asia-Pacific region.

At the signing ceremony, the President of AIET stated that cooperation with the National University of Singapore is an important milestone in the Association internationalization strategy. The President noted that AIET is committed to building a bridge between academia and industry, and that the rich experience of the NUS Faculty of Engineering in research transformation and industrial cooperation will inject strong momentum into cooperation between the two parties. The President expects that through this cooperation, more intelligent engineering talent with international vision and interdisciplinary capability can be cultivated.

The Dean of the NUS Faculty of Engineering expressed high expectations for the cooperation. The Dean stated that intelligent engineering is a core direction for future engineering technology development, and that AIET professional influence and industry network in this field will provide valuable platform support for transforming the faculty research outcomes and cultivating talent. The two parties plan to complete the establishment of the first batch of joint research projects within three months after signing the memorandum and to launch the pilot of the first talent certification project in the first half of 2026. The conclusion of this cooperation demonstrates the growing influence and convening power of AIET in academic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
