The Association of Intelligent Engineering and Technology (AIET) officially released the 2025 White Paper on the Development of Intelligent Manufacturing and AI Engineering Applications in September 2025. This 120-page industry research report, based on in-depth research across 15 major economies in the Asia-Pacific region, systematically reviews the latest development trends, key technology trends, and policy environment in intelligent manufacturing and artificial intelligence engineering applications, drawing broad attention and discussion from the industry.

Core data disclosed in the white paper show that the Asia-Pacific intelligent manufacturing market is expected to reach USD 485 billion in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 18.3%, with Mainland China, Japan, and South Korea together accounting for 67% of market share. In subfields, industrial robot deployment increased by 22.7% year on year, and the growth rate of the collaborative robot market reached 35.4%; the penetration rate of intelligent quality inspection systems increased from 12% in 2023 to 28% in 2025; and the application rate of digital twin technology among large manufacturing enterprises reached 41%, doubling compared with two years earlier.

In artificial intelligence engineering applications, the white paper includes 36 typical application cases from eight industries. The report points out that the application of AI in engineering is evolving from assisted decision-making toward autonomous optimization. Among these applications, engineering design assistance systems based on large language models have shown significant efficiency improvements in architectural engineering and mechanical design, shortening the preliminary design cycle by more than 40% on average. The deployment scale of predictive maintenance systems in petrochemical, power, and transportation infrastructure continues to expand, with fault warning accuracy generally exceeding 92%.

In industrial IoT deployment, the statistics in the white paper reveal a striking growth trend. The number of industrial IoT connected devices in the Asia-Pacific region exceeded 5.8 billion in 2025, and the deployment of edge computing nodes increased by 47% year on year. The application of private 5G networks in smart factories is accelerating, with more than 1,200 large manufacturing enterprises already deploying 5G-based industrial Internet solutions. The white paper particularly notes that industrial data security issues are becoming increasingly prominent, and approximately 34% of manufacturing enterprises in the Asia-Pacific region experienced cybersecurity incidents of varying degrees during the past year.

In policy environment analysis, the white paper systematically reviews intelligent manufacturing-related policies in major Asia-Pacific economies. The report notes that China Intelligent Manufacturing 2025 advancement plan continues to exert force, Japan Society 5.0 strategy has entered a deepened implementation stage, South Korea has released a new round of the Manufacturing Innovation 3.0 policy framework, and Singapore Smart Nation 2.0 plan has increased support for advanced manufacturing. Across economies, policy priorities show a common trend of shifting from hardware investment toward the development of software and data capabilities.

Several industry experts invited to participate in the white paper seminar highly evaluated the report. Experts generally believe that the next three to five years will be a critical window for deep integration between intelligent manufacturing and AI engineering applications, and that interdisciplinary talent with cross-domain integration capabilities will become the core driving force of industry development. AIET stated that it will continue to track industry trends and publish updated white papers each year to provide authoritative decision-making reference for the industry.
