In April 2025, the International Association of Intelligent Engineering and Technology (AIET) and the Faculty of Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) formally signed a strategic cooperation memorandum (MOU) in Singapore, marking the official beginning of in-depth cooperation between the two parties in intelligent engineering and frontier technology. The signing ceremony was held ceremoniously at the main building of the NUS Faculty of Engineering, with senior representatives from both sides and a number of guests from academia and industry attending to witness this important moment.
As an important professional organization in the global field of intelligent engineering and technology, AIET has long been committed to promoting the formulation of industry standards, technical research and development cooperation, and high-end talent cultivation. As a leading engineering education and research institution in the Asia-Pacific region, the NUS Faculty of Engineering has deep research accumulation and rich international cooperation experience in frontier directions such as intelligent manufacturing, Internet of Things technology, and artificial intelligence engineering applications. Through this partnership, the two parties aim to fully integrate their respective strengths and resources and jointly respond to the technical challenges and development opportunities brought by global intelligent transformation.
According to the memorandum, the two parties will carry out comprehensive cooperation in the following core areas: first, joint scientific research projects, establishing dedicated joint research topics around intelligent manufacturing system optimization, construction of industrial Internet of Things standard systems, and innovative applications of artificial intelligence in engineering, in order to promote the output of original scientific research achievements; second, talent exchange and cultivation, establishing a two-way scholar visit mechanism and a joint graduate training program to cultivate interdisciplinary high-end talent with an international vision for the field of intelligent engineering; third, academic standards and industry norms, jointly participating in and promoting the development and dissemination of relevant international standards in intelligent engineering, and enhancing the overall technical level and standardization of the industry; fourth, industry-academia-research transformation cooperation, building an efficient transformation platform from basic research to industrial implementation and accelerating the commercialization process of scientific research achievements.
At the signing ceremony, the President of AIET stated: "The strategic cooperation with the NUS Faculty of Engineering is an important milestone in the global development of AIET. We look forward to achieving breakthrough progress in key areas such as intelligent manufacturing and Internet of Things standardization through this cooperation, and contributing to global engineering and technological progress." The Dean of the NUS Faculty of Engineering also noted: "AIET has unique advantages in the formulation of international intelligent engineering standards and the integration of industry resources. This cooperation will provide our faculty and students with a broader platform for international exchange and frontier research opportunities."
Looking ahead, the two parties plan to launch no fewer than three joint research projects within the first year after signing and to hold the first joint academic symposium in the first half of 2026, inviting experts and scholars from the global intelligent engineering field to discuss frontier industry issues. The conclusion of this strategic cooperation will not only strongly promote academic exchange and technological innovation between the two parties in intelligent engineering and technology, but will also inject strong momentum into the sustainable development of the global intelligent engineering industry and further consolidate the leadership position of AIET as an authoritative professional organization in the international field of intelligent engineering and technology.
